About Ceftru-DX Tablet
Ceftru-DX Tablet combines Cefpodoxime 200 mg with Dicloxacillin 500 mg in a sustained-release format. The combination provides broad gram-negative coverage (cefpodoxime) plus reliable activity against penicillinase-producing MSSA (dicloxacillin) — particularly useful for mixed-flora skin/soft-tissue infections, diabetic foot infections and severe cellulitis.
The sustained-release matrix improves Dicloxacillin’s plasma profile, supporting twice-daily dosing instead of the four-times-daily regimen of immediate-release dicloxacillin. This is a step-up over plain cefpodoxime when MSSA coverage is critical.
Ceftru-DX is manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP conditions. Available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and third-party manufacturing.
Indications
- Mixed-flora skin and soft-tissue infections
- Diabetic foot infections
- Severe cellulitis with mixed flora suspected
- Post-surgical wound infections
- Bone and joint infections (adjunct)
Mechanism of Action
Cefpodoxime Proxetil is an oral third-generation cephalosporin prodrug that is hydrolysed in intestinal mucosa to active cefpodoxime. It binds penicillin-binding proteins, inhibiting peptidoglycan cross-linking. Broad spectrum covering gram-negative (H. influenzae, M. catarrhalis, E. coli, Klebsiella) and selected gram-positive (streptococci, MSSA) organisms — including many beta-lactamase-producing strains. Dicloxacillin's bulky isoxazolyl side chain blocks beta-lactamase attack, retaining activity against penicillinase-producing MSSA.
