About Glimstay-M2 SR Tablet

Mechanism of Action
Glimepiride is a third-generation sulphonylurea — longer duration of action, lower risk of severe hypoglycaemia than older agents, and weight-neutral compared with insulin secretagogues. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production (gluconeogenesis), improves peripheral insulin sensitivity, and reduces intestinal glucose absorption — without causing hypoglycaemia in monotherapy.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 tablet once daily with breakfast. May increase to twice daily.
Side Effects
Hypoglycaemia, weight gain (less with Glimepiride), nausea, mild GI upset. Rare hyponatraemia.
Contraindications & Precautions
Type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe hepatic/renal impairment, pregnancy, lactation, sulpha allergy.
