About Camicold Tablet

Camicold Tablet combines three molecules for comprehensive cold and flu symptom relief: Nimesulide 100 mg (NSAID for fever and body ache), Phenylephrine 10 mg (decongestant for nasal congestion) and Cetirizine 5 mg (antihistamine for rhinorrhoea, sneezing and itch). The triple action addresses the three main symptom clusters of viral upper respiratory tract infections in a single tablet.

Nimesulide is a selective COX-2 inhibitor with good antipyretic and analgesic properties. Phenylephrine is an alpha-1 adrenergic agonist that produces nasal mucosal vasoconstriction, reducing congestion. Cetirizine is a second-generation antihistamine that controls sneezing, rhinorrhoea and itchy throat.

Camicold is manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP conditions. Available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and third-party manufacturing — a high-volume general-practice SKU.

Indications

  • Common cold and flu symptoms
  • Upper respiratory tract infections with fever
  • Sinusitis with nasal congestion
  • Allergic rhinitis with associated body ache
  • Influenza symptomatic management

Mechanism of Action

Nimesulide inhibits COX-2 (preferentially over COX-1), reducing prostaglandin-mediated fever and pain. Phenylephrine activates alpha-1 adrenergic receptors in nasal mucosal blood vessels, producing vasoconstriction and reducing congestion. Cetirizine selectively blocks H1 histamine receptors, controlling histamine-mediated rhinitis symptoms.

Dosage & Administration

Adults: 1 tablet twice daily for 3–5 days, or as directed by physician. Take with food to reduce GI upset.

Side Effects

GI upset, nausea, drowsiness (Cetirizine — second-generation but can cause some sedation), insomnia and palpitations (Phenylephrine). Rare: Nimesulide hepatotoxicity (avoid prolonged use), hypersensitivity.

Contraindications & Precautions

Hypersensitivity to any component. Active peptic ulcer (Nimesulide). Severe hepatic impairment (Nimesulide). Severe hypertension, severe coronary artery disease (Phenylephrine). MAOI use within 14 days. Children under 12 years for this combination strength.
