About Amrocip-TZ Tablet
Amrocip-TZ Tablet combines Ciprofloxacin 500 mg with Tinidazole 600 mg — a widely prescribed Indian general-practice combination that covers both aerobic gram-negative bacteria and anaerobic/protozoal pathogens simultaneously. It is particularly useful in mixed-flora infections of the gastrointestinal and gynaecological tracts.
Ciprofloxacin’s fluoroquinolone activity addresses Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas and atypicals; Tinidazole’s nitroimidazole activity covers anaerobes (Bacteroides, Clostridium) and protozoa (Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia lamblia, Trichomonas vaginalis). The combined spectrum makes it a single-tablet solution for acute diarrhoea / dysentery, gynaecological infections, intra-abdominal infections and lower-respiratory infections complicated by anaerobic flora.
Amrocip-TZ is manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP conditions and is available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and third-party manufacturing — a high-volume FDC SKU.
Indications
- Acute bacterial gastroenteritis, dysentery and traveller's diarrhoea
- Amoebic and giardial intestinal infections
- Gynaecological infections (PID, bacterial vaginosis with mixed flora)
- Intra-abdominal infections (with antifungal cover as needed)
- Pelvic inflammatory disease
- Mixed soft-tissue and post-surgical infections
- Trichomonas vaginalis infection
Mechanism of Action
Ciprofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, blocking DNA replication. Tinidazole is reduced in anaerobic organisms to reactive nitro radicals that damage bacterial DNA and other macromolecules — producing bactericidal/protozoacidal action against anaerobes and selected protozoa. The two drugs together cover aerobic + anaerobic + protozoal spectrum.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 tablet twice daily for 5 days (longer in complicated infections). Take with food to reduce GI upset. Adjust dose in renal/hepatic impairment.
