About Cefalact-500 Capsule
Cefalact-500 Capsule is the standard adult-strength oral Cephalexin for bacterial infections. The 500 mg four-times-daily regimen is the workhorse dose for skin/soft-tissue infections, streptococcal pharyngitis, uncomplicated UTI and post-surgical prophylaxis in adults.
Cephalexin provides reliable, well-tolerated and inexpensive first-line oral cephalosporin therapy. Mechanism of Action
Cephalexin binds penicillin-binding proteins, inhibiting peptidoglycan cross-linking and causing bacterial cell wall lysis. First-generation cephalosporin spectrum: strong against gram-positive cocci, modest gram-negative coverage.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 500 mg four times daily (every 6 hours) for 7–10 days; longer for complicated infections. Adjust in renal impairment. Take with or without food.
Side Effects
GI upset, diarrhoea, nausea, mild rash. Rare: pseudomembranous colitis, anaphylaxis, eosinophilia, transient hepatic enzyme elevation. Penicillin cross-allergy.

Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins. Severe penicillin allergy. Caution in renal impairment.
