About Proptab-40 SR Tablet
Proptab-40 SR Tablet contains Propranolol 40 mg SR. Propranolol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic blocker — the original beta-blocker with the widest range of indications across cardiology, neurology, psychiatry and endocrinology.
Indicated for hypertension, angina, post-MI cardioprotection, atrial fibrillation rate control, migraine prophylaxis, essential tremor, performance anxiety and thyroid storm.

Mechanism of Action
Propranolol is a non-selective competitive antagonist of beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptors. Beta-1 blockade reduces heart rate, contractility and renin secretion. Beta-2 blockade contributes to migraine prophylaxis (cerebrovascular stabilisation) and anti-thyroid effects. CNS penetration explains its anxiolytic effect on situational anxiety.
