About Linaglite-5 Tablet
Linaglite-5 Tablet contains Linagliptin 5 mg, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor with weight-neutral, low-hypoglycaemia profile. Uniquely among gliptins, Linagliptin is predominantly excreted unchanged via bile/faeces, making it the preferred DPP-4 inhibitor in chronic kidney disease (no dose adjustment needed).
It is indicated as monotherapy or in combination with metformin, sulphonylureas, SGLT2 inhibitors or insulin for adults with type-2 diabetes mellitus.

Mechanism of Action
Linagliptin selectively inhibits DPP-4, preventing breakdown of the incretin hormones GLP-1 and GIP. Elevated incretin levels increase glucose-dependent insulin secretion and suppress glucagon — improving glycaemic control without promoting hypoglycaemia in non-eugenic states. Unlike other gliptins, linagliptin is primarily hepatically/biliary excreted, sparing the kidneys.
