About Halogem-S Ointment
Halogem-S Ointment combines the super-potent (Class I) corticosteroid Halobetasol Propionate 0.05% w/w with the keratolytic Salicylic Acid IP 6% w/w in an occlusive ointment base.
It is indicated for chronic plaque psoriasis on the trunk, limbs and scalp where thick hyperkeratotic plaques limit penetration of plain corticosteroids. The salicylic acid debulks the plaque, allowing halobetasol to act more effectively.

Mechanism of Action
Halobetasol Propionate is a super-potent corticosteroid that binds intracellular glucocorticoid receptors and powerfully suppresses local inflammation, vasodilation and keratinocyte hyperproliferation. Salicylic Acid is a beta-hydroxy keratolytic that dissolves desmosomes in the stratum corneum, debulking thick plaques and improving steroid penetration.
