Mechanism of Action
Iron is delivered as Ferrous Ascorbate / Ferrous Fumarate / Carbonyl Iron — among the most bioavailable oral iron forms. Folic Acid and Vitamin B12 are essential cofactors for erythropoiesis (DNA synthesis in marrow precursors). Vitamin C enhances iron absorption by maintaining iron in reduced Fe²⁺ state.
Dosage & Administration
Children: 5–10 ml twice daily. Adults: 15 ml twice daily.
Side Effects
Constipation, dark stools, metallic taste, occasional nausea. Generally well tolerated with food. Dental staining (dilute with water, rinse after).
Contraindications & Precautions
Iron overload disorders (haemochromatosis, thalassaemia), peptic ulcer, megaloblastic anaemia without B12 supplementation, pernicious anaemia.
