About Esorut IV
Esorut IV contains Esomeprazole Sodium 40 mg for IV administration — used in acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding (especially after endoscopic haemostasis), in NPO/intubated patients requiring acid suppression, and in severe oesophagitis when oral therapy isn’t feasible.
High-dose IV PPI is the standard of care for high-risk peptic ulcer bleeding after endoscopic intervention, reducing rebleeding and need for surgery.

Indications

Mechanism of Action
Esomeprazole irreversibly binds gastric H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump), blocking final step of acid secretion. S-isomer of omeprazole with improved pharmacokinetics.

Acute GI bleeding: 80 mg IV bolus then 8 mg/hr infusion for 72 hours. Other: 20–40 mg IV daily. Hospital use.
Side Effects
Headache, dizziness, infusion-site reactions. Long-term: nutritional deficiencies, infections.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity. Concurrent rilpivirine, atazanavir, nelfinavir.
