About Dutamac-0.5 Capsule
Dutamac-0.5 Capsule contains Dutasteride 0.5 mg — a dual 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor that blocks both type 1 and type 2 isoenzymes, achieving more complete suppression of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) than finasteride (which only blocks type 2). Used for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) to reduce prostate volume and acute urinary retention risk.
Long-term therapy (6–12 months) produces 20–25% reduction in prostate volume, improvement in urine flow, and reduction in BPH-related surgical interventions. Often combined with alpha-blockers (as in Alfuzest-D) for symptomatic + structural BPH management.

Mechanism of Action
