About Doxytic Injection
Doxytic Injection contains Doxycycline 100 mg — a tetracycline antibiotic with broad-spectrum activity. IV form used when oral administration is not possible: severe infections, hospitalised patients with sepsis, or specific indications like severe Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
Doxycycline covers gram-positive, gram-negative, atypicals (Mycoplasma, Chlamydia), Rickettsia, Borrelia (Lyme disease) and many anaerobes. Common indications include atypical pneumonia, severe acne, Lyme disease and rickettsial infections.

Mechanism of Action
Doxycycline binds 30S bacterial ribosomal subunit, blocking aminoacyl-tRNA binding and inhibiting protein synthesis. Bacteriostatic against most organisms.

Side Effects
GI upset, photosensitivity, oesophagitis (less with IV), hepatotoxicity (rare), permanent tooth staining in children under 8.
