About Doxofer Injection
Doxofer Injection contains Doxofylline 10 mg/ml — a newer methylxanthine bronchodilator with significantly fewer cardiovascular and CNS side effects than theophylline. Used for acute bronchospasm in asthma exacerbations and COPD where IV bronchodilator therapy is needed.
Doxofylline retains theophylline’s bronchodilator efficacy while removing much of the adenosine receptor activity that drives theophylline’s adverse profile (tachycardia, tremor, GI upset, seizures).

Mechanism of Action
Doxofylline produces bronchodilation through phosphodiesterase inhibition (similar to theophylline) but with much weaker adenosine receptor antagonism — explaining its cleaner side-effect profile compared to theophylline.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 100–400 mg by slow IV infusion two to three times daily. Hospital use under medical supervision.
Side Effects
Less tachycardia, tremor and GI upset than theophylline. Possible mild GI upset.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity. Acute MI. Severe hypotension.
