About Acetawise-250 Tablet
Acetawise-250 Tablet contains Acetazolamide 250 mg — carbonic anhydrase inhibitor for acute glaucoma, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, altitude sickness prophylaxis, and as adjunct in epilepsy (selected).

Indications
- Acute angle-closure glaucoma (pre-op)

Mechanism of Action
Acetazolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor — reduces aqueous humor production (glaucoma), produces metabolic acidosis (altitude sickness, idiopathic intracranial hypertension), and has mild diuretic effect.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 250 mg 1–4 times daily based on indication. Altitude sickness: 125–250 mg twice daily starting day before ascent.
Side Effects
Paraesthesia (very common — fingertips, toes), metabolic acidosis, hypokalaemia, kidney stones, photosensitivity, sulpha allergy reactions.
Contraindications & Precautions
Sulpha allergy, severe hepatic disease, severe renal impairment, hypokalaemia, hyponatraemia, Addison's disease.
