About Acarest-M (50/500) Tablet
Acarest-M (50/500) Tablet combines Acarbose 50 mg with Metformin 500 mg — dual-action for Type 2 diabetes addressing both post-prandial spikes (Acarbose) and hepatic glucose output + insulin sensitivity (Metformin).

Indications
- Type 2 DM with significant post-prandial spikes

Mechanism of Action
Acarbose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor — competitively inhibits intestinal alpha-glucosidase enzymes that break down complex carbohydrates. Reduces post-prandial glucose spikes without causing hypoglycaemia in monotherapy. Metformin reduces hepatic gluconeogenesis and improves insulin sensitivity.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 tablet three times daily with meals.
Side Effects
Flatulence (very common), diarrhoea, abdominal pain, transaminase elevation (high doses). Metallic taste, GI upset (Metformin).
Contraindications & Precautions
IBD, intestinal obstruction, severe renal/hepatic impairment, hypersensitivity. eGFR <30 ml/min, lactic acidosis history.
