Mechanism of Action
Metronidazole eliminates anaerobic bacteria contributing to wound malodour and chronicity. Povidone Iodine provides sustained release of microbicidal iodine, active against bacteria, fungi, viruses, spores and protozoa. Sucralfate, a sulphated polysaccharide-aluminium complex, adheres to ulcerated tissue forming a protective barrier; it locally upregulates basic fibroblast growth factor and stimulates angiogenesis and epithelial proliferation.
Dosage & Administration
- Clean the wound or affected area with saline
- Apply a thin layer 2–3 times daily and after each bowel movement (for anal fissure)
- Cover with sterile gauze if needed
- Continue for the period advised by the doctor
