Mechanism of Action
Dorzolamide is a topical sulphonamide carbonic anhydrase II inhibitor that reduces aqueous humour formation in the ciliary epithelium. Timolol is a non-selective beta-blocker that reduces aqueous secretion by blocking beta-receptors on the ciliary body. The complementary mechanisms produce additive IOP reduction of around 25–30% from baseline.
Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily
- Wait 5 minutes between different eye-drop products
- Apply pressure to the inner canthus after instillation
- Use under ophthalmologist supervision
