Dosage & Administration

- In CKD as phosphate binder: 1 tablet with each meal as directed by nephrologist.
Side Effects
- Constipation, bloating, flatulence.
- Possible hypercalcaemia with high-dose use — monitor serum calcium.
- Rare: milk-alkali syndrome with very high doses + alkalinising agents.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity.
- Hypercalcaemia.
- Hyperparathyroidism.
- Severe renal impairment without monitoring.
- Concurrent thiazide diuretics (potentiation of hypercalcaemia).
